Sales Training

Government Initiatives

There are a number of initiatives being proposed by the Government which it is hoped will improve the skills base of the United Kingdom. It should be recognised that this is something that is increasingly important in the global economy with increased competition from around the world. It should also be recognised that much of the productivity of the developed world now comes through the intellectual capacity of workers so skills are massively important. One of the approaches that is currently going on is the Government's Train to Gain service which seeks to improve the productivity and skills of a workforce by teaming them with a skills broker who can advise a business as to where their deficiencies are, providing them with an opportunity to address key issues. Workers can them go on training courses which improve their skills. Although this was originally envisaged for things such as sales training it has now been expanded to include a wide range of other sectors due to the benefits that it has brought to businesses.

Train to Gain

The benefits of Train to Gain can be seen for my local area, Blackpool, which experiences a significant skills shortage. Whilst Blackpool has a massive problem with groups such as incapacity benefit claimants with low skills finding themselves detached from the workplace, it is also the case that there is a general skills shortage within the town which is a major barrier to increasing productivity and attracting businesses into the town. Train to Gain presents an ideal opportunity to address this by offering a chance to reduce the 20% of the working age population who have no qualifications. Further to this, by offering to help employees gain their first Level 2 qualification through training courses such as sales training, Train to Gain can help to address the significant skills gaps at other levels, equipping the population with the talents required to compete in the new economy.

Unaware

In addition to this, it may well be the case that businesses in Blackpool are simply unaware of the skills that are required to make their businesses more productive whilst some may be unwilling to invest in their workforce. Train to Gain can overcome these issues by carrying out a detailed analysis of the requirements of a business, as well as recommending the best ways of funding training courses such as sales training. Blackpool trails slightly behind the national figure for employees receiving in-job training so it is important that businesses take advantage of Train to Gain so that the town can surpass the national average and begin to make inroads into the significant skills deficiencies currently experienced. Online training companies are able to provide much of the training offered by Train to Gain which may be important in improving the productivity of a business.
